What is his lecture called?

Direct-indirect composite restorations - scientific and clinical basis

What is his lecture about?

One of the biggest benefits of light-curable composites is the fact that they can be sculpted intraorally to achieve the correct shape and colour. Newton Fahl describes how this does not always guarantee predictable aesthetic results, as composites may undergo colour changes depending on the kind of particles, brand name, photopolymerization source and finishing techniques. Due to its polymeric nature, composites tend to change over their clinical life span, which can be minimized by supplemental extra oral photocuring and heat tempering, which increase their longevity. This lecture will discuss the scientific and clinical aspects for the use of a direct-indirect technique as a viable alternative for Class V, Class IV, veneers and crowns with composites resins.

  • How to understand the ideal composite restorative for the anterior segment

  • Understanding the science and art of a direct-indirect procedure

  • Establishing the criteria for direct versus direct-indirect composite procedures
